Course Ending Exams

An Apprentice has two attempts to write their final exam at the end of their course. If they fail the first attempt they must contact their course instructor to have the exam reset (available to write again). If the Apprentice fails the second attempt he or she must pay for the course again and start from the beginning.

Exam Proctoring

Apprentices are required to write course ending exams and will need a proctor present at the time of testing. It is the student’s responsibility to identify a test proctor prior to, or during, the first few weeks of class. A proctor may already be in place depending on your location.

If you are coming to write a proctored test at one of the NSCC campuses an appointment is necessary where seating is limited. Please refer to the Proctoring Contacts to arrange a time. 24 hours’ notice is required.

External Proctors

If you cannot come to one of the NSCC campuses, you can arrange for an External Proctor with your instructor.
Go to "How to select an External Test Proctor for Your Online Course".

If you are using an external proctor please remember that any cost for proctoring is the responsibility of the student.

If the External Proctor is approved by the instructor, the document "External Proctor Responsibilities" outlines the duties the external proctor is expected to provide on the day the test is written.

Prepare for Testing When you go for testing:
  • Bring a Photo ID.
  • Know the name of your course.
  • Know the name of your instructor.
  • Know which test/exam you are taking.
  • Know the requirements and restrictions as described in your course outline.
  • Know the test time limit.
  • Know whether or not any reference text is allowed.
  • *Ensure your test is available.
  • Know your login For Brightspace (D2L).
